Jean-Marie Dieuze
The author, Captain (retired) Jean-Marie Dieuze, enlisted as a simple legionnaire in 1983.
After four months of training with the 4th Foreign Regiment, he joined the 2nd Foreign Parachute Regiment (2nd REP) in Calvi.
Patented as a parachutist, he was assigned to the 4th Company (Destroyers – Snipers).
He rose to the rank of non-commissioned officer in 1988. In 1994, then a staff sergeant on the promotion list, he joined the 1st Foreign Regiment as a non-commissioned officer specializing in information and communication systems (CIS). He was promoted to warrant officer in 1995. From 1998 to 2000, appointed chief warrant officer, he served in the 13th Demi-Brigade of the Foreign Legion (13th DBLE) in Djibouti. He then returned to the 1st Foreign Regiment, where he passed the competitive examination for majors.
In 2001, he was commissioned as an officer with the status of Foreign Title. Promoted to captain in 2005, he took command of the Command and Services Company (CCS) of the 3rd Foreign Infantry Regiment (3rd REI) from 2006 to 2008. He was subsequently assigned to the Foreign Legion Command (COMLE).
In 2010, after more than twenty-seven years of service under the Seven-Flame Grenade, he left active duty. Since 2023, he has served in the operational reserve, within the COMLE. Administrator within the Federation of Societies of Former Members of the Foreign Legion (FSALE), he is also a member of the Association of Former Members of the Foreign Legion (AALE) of Aubagne and its region.
