SAGANE

The author, SAGANE, whose real name is Emmanuel SABOURET GARAT de NEDDE, joined the Foreign Legion in 2004. He served in the Cavalary of the Foreign Legion until 2025, with the exception of a posting to the 13th DBLE in Djibouti from 2009 to 2011.
After three years as a corporal and eight years as a non-commissioned officer, he was promoted to the epaulette and commanded an armored platoon on AMX 10RCs. After serving as a deputy in a combat squadron, he joined the ECL of the 1st REC, which he commanded from 2023 to 2025.
During his years in the Foreign Legion, he participated in numerous overseas operations. Passionate about history, he led the organization of the centenary of the 1st REC in 2021 and participated in the writing of the comic strip Royal étranger as well as that of the eponymous book.
